QU organizes ceremony marking the ISO accreditation for its units

The Chief Strategy and Development Office at Qatar University (QU) organized a ceremony in recognition for the efforts of the university units in obtaining the ISO certificates by achieving institutional excellence through the pursuit of quality management.
Dr. Hassan Al-Derham, President of Qatar University, attended the ceremony in addition to the Directors of university units and a number of university employees.
The following units at QU obtained the certification of internationally recognized ISO 9001:2015 standard, which is concerned with determining the requirements of a Quality Management System , and they are Chief Strategy and Development Office, Social and Economic Survey Research Institute, Research Support Department (Grants and Contracts), and Student Learning Support Center.
The Quality Management System (QMS) enables the Qatar University offices, departments, divisions, and centers in setting up and improving internal operations. This system follows a methodology that helps the administration to make informed decisions and enables it to provide high-quality services. A well-established QMS can save time, money, resources, and also reduce the number of errors and improve operational performance.
The Facilities Call Center of Facilities and General Services Department has also obtained the certification of ISO 18295-1:2017 standard, which is an international quality standard dedicated to the call center industry reflecting the organization’s commitment to professionalism and continuous improvement of the quality of customer service.
In a statement, President of Qatar University, Dr. Hassan Al-Derham mentioned, “I am pleased to express my deep gratitude and I appreciate the cooperation I receive from you in matters of continuous improvement, which indicates your keenness and belief in working on institutional excellence through the pursuit of quality management. Qatar University’s Institutional Excellence strategy has set Institutional Excellence as a strategic goal for it as one of the components of the university's transformation initiatives. This can be achieved through the modernization of the governance system, which will work based on quality standards and operational effectiveness frameworks. First, I congratulate Dr. Khalid Al-Khanji, Chief Strategy and Development Officer, and Dr. Darwish Al-Emadi, the previous representative of the office; and Dr. Kaltham Al-Ghanim, Director of Social and Economic Survey Research Institute, and Dr. Hassan Al-Sayed, the previous representative of the Institute; Dr. Mohammed Al-Salem, Director of Research Support Department (Grants and Contracts); Dr. Yasser Hussein, Director of Student Learning Support Center, for obtaining the certification of ISO 9001:2015 standard. I also congratulate Eng. Mai Fetais, Director of Facilities and General Services Department for obtaining the certification for Facilities Call Center in ISO 18295-1:2017 standard.”
Dr. Al-Derham added, “We are extremely proud of your achievement, which is the result of the continuous improvement of your services, which could not have been achieved without fruitful cooperation with your team. It is always important to improve the quality of your services provided, in order to increase the satisfaction of customers, employees, stakeholders, suppliers, and society, University as a whole.”
Dr. Khalid Al-Khanji, Chief Strategy and Development Officer stated, “The adoption of ISO certification standards reflects the university’s interest in assisting its departments and centers to the highest degree of professionalism in performing their duties and providing their services, and it is expected that a larger group of departments and centers will obtain similar certificates in the coming period.”
