    Dr. Badrane Benlahcene
    Acting Director of Ibn Khaldon Center for Social and Human Sciences

    Badrane Benlahcene is currently an Associate Professor and Researcher at the Ibn Khaldon Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, Qatar University.

    He holds a Ph.D. in Civilization Studies and Philosophy from University Putra Malaysia (2004), an M.A. in Comparative Religion and Islamic Thought from International Islamic University Malaysia (1998), and a B.A. in Islamic Studies from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Batna University, Algeria (1994).

    Previously, he served as an Associate Professor, Coordinator of the Comparative Religion Program, and Director of the Wasatiyyah Center at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (2013–2020). He was also an Associate Professor at King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia (2009–2013), and an Assistant Professor and Head of the Scientific Committee in the Philosophy Department at Batna University (2005–2009), where he founded the Master’s Program in the Philosophy of Civilization (2009). Additionally, he was the Head of the Research Unit at the Museum of Islamic Arts and Antiquities in Malaysia (2004–2005).

    Dr. Benlahcene has supervised numerous Master’s and Ph.D. theses, participated in many international academic conferences, and has published six books and over 60 peer-reviewed research papers, along with numerous articles in newspapers, magazines, and online platforms. He is a member of editorial and review boards for various research centers and academic journals and serves on advisory board of multiple research institutions.

    His research and teaching interests include the philosophy of history and civilization, religion and social sciences, the history and dialogue of religions, interdisciplinary studies, and the history and methodologies of Islamic sciences. He also writes and publishes on Islamic thought and issues of civilizational renaissance.
