About the Office
The Scholarships and Capacity Building Office operates under the Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Office is responsible for attracting and developing outstanding Qatari talent by providing postgraduate scholarship opportunities and implementing academic and professional development programs. The Office contributes to supporting Qatar University's strategic priorities and achieving the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 by investing in human capital, promoting academic excellence, preparing national leaders, and strengthening research capabilities.
Mission
To empower outstanding Qatari talent by providing access to leading postgraduate programs worldwide, developing leadership capabilities, and preparing candidates for academic and professional careers that support Qatar University and serve the State of Qatar.

To be the leading driver in preparing a new generation of Qatari academics, researchers, and leaders capable of contributing to national development and enriching knowledge at both the regional and global levels.
Scholarship and Capacity Building Programs
The Office oversees a range of programs designed to prepare and develop future Qatari faculty members and academic leaders.
- Applicant must be a Qatari national and under the age of 24.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 out of 4.00.
- Completion of at least 60 earned credit hours.
- Proof of language proficiency in accordance with the applicable requirements.
- Successful completion of interviews with the academic department, college, and the Scholarships and Capacity Building Office.
- Approval of the Higher Committee for Academic Appointments of Qatari Faculty Members.
The program aims to attract outstanding undergraduate students and prepare them for an academic career as future faculty members at Qatar University.
- Applicant must be a Qatari national and under the age of 28.
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized university through full-time study.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00, or equivalent.
- Approval of the Higher Committee for Academic Appointments of Qatari Faculty Members.
- Successful completion of interviews with the academic department, college, and the Scholarships and Capacity Building Office.
- Minimum IELTS score of 5.5 for programs taught in Arabic and 6.5 for programs taught in English.
- Unconditional admission to a Master's program at a university in the United States or Canada.
- Applicant must be a Qatari national and under the age of 35.
- Master's degree from a recognized university through full-time study.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00, or equivalent.
- Minimum IELTS score of 5.5 for programs taught in Arabic and 6.5 for programs taught in English.
- Successful completion of interviews with the academic department, college, and the Scholarships and Capacity Building Office.
- Approval of the Higher Committee for Academic Appointments of Qatari Faculty Members.
- Unconditional admission to a PhD program at a university in the United States or Canada.
- Stage One: Academic Excellence (Teaching, Learning, and Scientific Research).
- Stage Two: Development of Core Leadership and Administrative Skills.
- Stage Three: Preparing Distinguished Academic and Institutional Leaders.
Services for Scholarship Recipients
- Management of scholarship affairs and supervision of scholarship programs.
- Issuance of financial guarantees, allowances, and scholarship letters.
- Monitoring scholars' academic performance and study progress.
- Providing guidance on scholarship policies and procedures.
- Reviewing requests for scholarship extensions, suspension, or reactivation.
- Supporting participation in scientific conferences and professional development programs.
- Coordinating with overseas universities on academic and administrative matters.
Partnerships and International Collaboration
- Building and strengthening strategic partnerships.
- Supporting agreements, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), and joint initiatives.
- Promoting academic exchange and institutional collaboration.
- Strengthening Qatar University's international standing and global academic presence.
